Yay! I pass my LEED NC test yesterday. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. I am now (or as soon as I get my certificate in the mail) a LEED Accredited Professional.

Article in Lakeland Times on New Peter Christensen Clinic

Below is the link to an article in the Lakeland Times on New Peter Christensen Clinic.

DSGW Architects, the firm I work for, designed the clinic and it is nearing completion. I took a tour last week and it is going to be a great clinic.

"Those involved with the new Peter Christiansen Clinic in Lac du Flambeau have high hopes that it will have a successful impact on the surrounding community.

"Peter Christiansen is a former tribal leader who had a significant role in bringing a permanent health care service to Lac du Flambeau," clinic health director Randy Samuelson said.

The ground breaking took place in June 2008 and the grand opening is slated for August of this year. The clinic's general contractor is Ellis Stone Construction Co. of Stevens Point and the architect was DSGW of Duluth, Minn.

"The need for a new clinic stems over a 10-year process and the biggest process was to get financing," Samuelson said in an interview with The Lakeland Times.

The clinic, which Samuelson said will eventually be self-sufficient, has received $7.2 million in funding for the over-all project. This includes the parking lot, equipment and constructing the building.

The funding is a combination of clinic revenue, tribal funds, a grant from the National Indian Health Service (about $2 million) and a loan from the United States Department of Agriculture (about $2.7 million). IHS also awarded an equipment grant of $418,000."
